Catching up

It’s been a busy couple of weeks on the work front and here at home. My blog has sort of fallen by the wayside, but we’ve been tackling a few projects around the house bit by bit.

We did finish wallpapering the wall in the dining room. I haven’t styled it yet. But the wallpaper is up! And I did end up buying a slip covered couch for the living room in mid January. It is an Ikea sofa and I actually spotted it for sale on the local buy and sell. Someone had used it for staging a home so it is virtually brand new. This is the couch HERE

I love how versatile & affordable it is - even brand new- and how easily you can remove the covers for washing. I don’t think I’ll ever own another kind of couch after this. Slip covers all the way. The best thing is, our cat Percy doesn’t bother with it at all. Our previous leather sofa cost 3 times as much as this one and was like a magnetic pull for him, he was constantly on the back of it, scratching and clawing the leather. It is so nice to not have to cover our couch with blankets anymore! 

I also ordered some new under cabinet lights from Amazon for the kitchen. They are magnetic, rechargeable and motion activated. All the right boxes are checked! The best part is they literally took 5 minutes to install! I always wanted pot lights, but as we are hoping to update our kitchen at some point I would never want to invest in having electrical lights installed. These cost about $15 each and are seriously just as effective in providing a warm glow in your kitchen as pot lights are! It actually makes cooking more enjoyable to have these lights glowing over the counter.

I had some photos printed recently to start work on updating my photo wall. We have quite a few photos framed around our home, but many are from when Aidan was a baby. I want to keep some baby photos but also have current photos as well. I downloaded an app in order to turn some of our travel photos into watercolor type prints, like this photo I took in. Mexico last year and one of Aidan at Stanley Bridge last summer. It’s so much fun!
