$30 Coffee Table Makeover

My $30 Coffee table makeover

I’ve had a old coffee table of my parents in my basement since last summer. We’d held a yard sale & mom brought it over to sell. Since it didn’t end up going and she didn’t want it anymore, I moved it into the basement for storage rather than store it in the garage over the winter.

Last week I started thinking about how to make my living room more coastal, given the new beaded chandelier and slip covered couch. I’ve always been a fan of cottage style, and while I love my glass top coffee table, I thought I’d try this quick, cheap change up for summer to see how I liked it.

So I paid a visit to Canadian Tire after hockey on the weekend and picked up a can of chalk paint. I’ve used this in the past and knew how easy it would be to paint the coffee table with minimal prep or sanding required. Just a quick wipe with a damp rag and I was ready to go. I laid down some garbage bags underneath the table and got to painting. Since chalk paint dries so quickly you don’t have to wait long at all between coats. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish to complete this project.

It’s not perfect, but if you’re a fan of chippy, cottage style this paint is an option for you! I’m looking around for something else to paint with the rest of the can.

Cheers to Spring fever! 🍀
